    A decade or more ago, digital marketing, or internet marketing as it was more frequently referred to back then (see digital marketing vs internet marketing), used to be a wild-west like frontier (and websites looked like this!). Opportunities were everywhere, and there were also plenty of people getting it horribly wrong with 'under construction' signs commonplace.     President Obama on Monday requested more than $1.8 billion in emergency funding to fight an outbreak of the Zika virus, which has spread to 26 countries and territories in Central and South America, though not yet to the United States. The money would go toward expanding programs that control mosquitoes, which transmit the virus, as well as research into vaccines and new public education programs, particularly for pregnant women, the president said in an interview on “CBS This Morning. Brazil, which has been among the countries hardest hit by the virus, has reported a significant increase in the birth of babies with abnormally small heads, a condition that may be linked to the virus.   The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has upgraded its advisories regarding the Zika Virus.  Zika virus is a mosquito-borne illness that can be spread from mosquito to human, as well as from a pregnant woman to her unborn baby.  Research is ongoing; however, there have been reports of a serious birth defect (microcephaly) and other poor pregnancy outcomes in babies of mothers who were infected with Zika virus while pregnant.    For additional information about Zika, including travel advisories, visit the CDC website and view the White House's Zika page.  To obtain CDC travel notices, call the CDC at 1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636) from within the United States, or 1-404-639-3534 from overseas, or visit the CDC website.

If necessary, a consular officer can also assist in the transfer of funds from the United States. However, payment of hospital and other expenses is the patient’s responsibility. You can find local medical and emergency information at the website of the U.S. embassy or consulate near the ill or injured person. Find it online at usembassy.gov.    Check Your Health Insurance – Are You Covered Abroad? Before you go abroad, learn what medical services your health insurance will cover overseas.  If your health insurance policy provides coverage outside the United States, REMEMBER to carry both your insurance policy identity card as proof of such insurance and a claim form.  Although many health insurance companies will pay "customary and reasonable" hospital costs abroad, very few will pay for your medical evacuation back to the United States.  Medical evacuation can easily cost $10,000 and up, depending on your location and medical condition.   What about Medicare?     A Short Walk After Meals Is All It Takes to Lower Blood Sugar Seniors are more prone to developing diabetes, but a little exercise could make a big difference. A study published today in Diabetes Care found that three short walks each day after meals were as effective at reducing blood sugar over 24 hours as a single 45-minute walk at the same moderate pace.   Even better, taking an evening constitutional was found to be much more effective at lowering blood sugar following supper. The evening meal, often the largest of the day, can significantly raise 24-hour glucose levels.   The innovative exercise science study was conducted at the Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) using whole room calorimeters. Loretta DiPietro, Ph.D., chair of the SPHHS Department of Exercise Science, led the study.   "These findings are good news for people in their 70s and 80s who may feel more capable of engaging in intermittent physical activity on a daily basis," DiPietro said in a press release.
